About Jitske van Buuren:

Jitske (from the Netherlands) began cello lessons at the age of nine with Sim van Leeuwen (Borne) and later with Mechteld Lindeboom (Enschede). During this time, she played in the Twents Youth Symphony Orchestra. At home, music-making was a family activity, often with her father at the piano and sometimes joined by her sister on the violin.  Later, Jitske participated in YOU!XL, a talent development program in collaboration with ArtEZ Conservatory and Kunst & Cultuur Overijssel. Through this program, she performed at concerts, played in various ensembles, and received several lessons from René Berman, principal cellist of the Gelders Orchestra. With her cello quartet, she reached the finals of “YOU!XL The Battles.”
During her music therapy studies, she continued cello as her main instrument and was taught by René Geesing, principal solo cellist of the Oost Nederland Orchestra. At that time, Jitske also performed with the East Nederlands Symphony Orchestra.
Before and during her studies, Jitske played in various ensembles, often with other string players (string quartet, cello quartet), but also regularly in duo with piano or in trio settings (with violin or flute). Within her studies, she frequently collaborated with the ‘Pop Academy’ and ‘Media Music’ programs, gaining extensive stage and studio experience in different formations.
As a guest musician, Jitske performed with several orchestras, including as principal cellist and soloist with Harmonie Orkest Twente during a concert competition.
As a solo cellist (accompanied by piano), Jitske participated in the Britten Competition in 2013 and twice in the Princess Christina Competition in 2012 and 2014, where she was awarded an encouragement prize for her performance of “Hungarian Rhapsody” by David Popper.

Ilja Huang, piano. Jitske is accompanied by local pianist Ilja Huang, who already has a long track record of organizing and playing in concerts in Curaçao and the Netherlands. Starting at age 7, Ilja had lessons from het mother, Greet Huang, and later continued with Iman Landheer. She also played the violin for several years, and was part of the Curacao Youth Orchestra, from Eric Gorsira. In the Netherlands she studied with Fred Oldenburg at the Conservatory in Enschede, where she graduated for her piano soloist and chamber music piano in 1992.

Zaterdag 23 augustus 2025, 7 pm, Landhuis Bloemhof:
Filmavond met "MASS: A Theatre Piece for Singers, Players, and Dancers" van Leonard Bernstein - Landhuis Bloemhof (zat. 23/8)
"Mass" van Leonard Bernstein is “A Theatre piece for Singers, Players and Dancers”, geschreven in 1971 voor de opening van het John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.
